About SBI Mutual Fund
The SBI Mutual Fund is one of India’s largest and oldest Mutual Funds. It is run by the reputed SBI brand, particularly - the SBI Mutual Fund Trustee Company Private Limited. In fact, the SBI Mutual Fund is a Joint Venture (JV) between State Bank of India and Amundi, which is a French asset management company.
SBI MF is registered with the Securities and Exchange Board of India or SEBI. It has many firsts to its name - such as being India’s first ‘Contra’ fund, called the SBI Contra Fund, and the first ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) fund for sustainable investment in major markets.
In 2015, an investment of Rs 5,000 Crore was made by the Employees’ Provident Fund of India for the first time in a Mutual Fund in India. It was towards the SBI MF Sensex Exchange Traded Funds. SBIMF is the 3rd largest Mutual Fund body in India based on Assets under Management. The fund’s AUM has grown to ₹3.73 trillion as of March 2020 as compared with ₹2.83 trillion in the same quarter of 2019. This amounts to a growth of 32%.
